Escape – Journey Album Review

July 3, 2018 by Bryan Lyle

Journey has always been one of my favorite bands. They went through a lot of trouble when they were really popular, but through it all they are still amazing. Steve Perry has a one of a kind voice and is the reason Journey has become what it is known for now. Journey is a band that plays rock and roll but they are also really good at playing slow love songs. The Escape album has a good variety of songs. Some of the songs have been heard by everyone and some of them have not been heard by many people at all. I have ranked the songs in order by the tracklist from the album not by best to worst.
       1. Don’t Stop Believin’ – This song has been heard by almost everybody. It was ranked #9 in 1981
       2. Stone in Love – This is a great rock song and is one of my favorite rock songs of all time. It was sadly not in the top 100 on the billboards.
       3.  Who’s Cryin’ Now – This song can be really powerful and it is also one of my favorite Journey songs. It was ranked #4 in 1981
       4.  Keep On Runnin’ – This is another one of the rock songs that I really like. It also never made the billboards.
       5. Still They Ride – This is one of the slow songs by journey that I like a lot more. This sadly never made the bill boards.
       6. Escape – This album was of course named after this song. It is a great song but was also not put on the billboards.
       7. Lay It Down – This is more of a slower rock song. It also never made the billboards.
       8. Dead or Alive – This is a great rock song that I like but it never made the billboards.
       9. Mother, Father – This is one of the cooler songs by Journey because it starts out as a slow song ,but quickly becomes more of a rock song. This was not put on the billboards.
       10. Open Arms – This is my favorite love song by Journey. It has a great beat and was ranked #2 in 1982
       11. La Raza del Sol – This song has an interesting name as well as the actual song. This song was never put on the top 100 billboards.
Overall I think that this is one of my favorite albums by Journey. I definitely recommend adding the songs to your playlist.
