At Night, Alone. – Mike Posner Album Review

August 9, 2019 by Cameron Lyle

Mike Posner the one hit wonder, the artist that everyone forgot about, “the cooler than me guy” was silent for almost 5 years after the release of his album 31 Minutes to Takeoff in 2010 which included the hit Cooler Than Me. Mike Posner came back firing in 2016 with the surprise album “At Night, Alone.” Mike Posner changed his former poppy self to a more stripped down somber artist. At Night, Alone is the perfect album for well, it’s pretty self explanatory for when you should listen to it and he even releases a 15 second introduction to the album explaining just that. At Night Alone contains 10 tracks, an intro, outro, and 6 remixed tracks. For once the remixed tracks add a different sound to each track and aren’t awful. The remixes of each song are just a more upbeat and poppy version of the song which goes back to Mike Posner’s early days of an artist. For this review though, I will only be looking at the main tracks for this in depth album review. The album ended up peaking at #12 on the Billboard 200 charts and had one top 5 hit in “I Took A Pill In Ibiza.”

Death of a Bachelor – Panic! at the Disco Album Review

July 26, 2019 by Jackson Smith

Death of a Bachelor is an album by Panic! at the Disco released in 2016. It was their 5th album and their 2nd album with Brendon Urie being the only member of the band. It’s most definitely my favorite because it’s the album that got me into Panic! Here’s a ranking of the album from my least favorite to favorite.

Song Reviews 1 – Post Malone, Hozier, Stevie Wonder, The Beatles + More

July 9, 2019 by Cameron Lyle

Goodbyes – Post Malone w/ Young Thug

Post Malone did it again with another love pop song. Goodbyes has the signature Post Malone sound with the catchy hook followed by the quick sad voice lyrical sound. If that doesn’t make sense just give the song a listen and you will hear it. The underlying meaning of the song centers around wanting someone to get out of your head, but you just can’t get them out because you care for them so much. I really like this song and can’t wait for his third studio album which will most likely include this song.

Make It Happen – John Splithoff EP Review

July 2, 2019 by Jackson Smith

I haven’t know John Splithoff’s music for super long. He’s honestly not super popular, and I first heard his music in a set of headphones at Costco. I really liked him so I looked him up at home and did some heavy listening of his EP. I think he may have a couple of singles but he doesn’t have that much music. With that, I really got a feel of his sound and songwriting style, and I’m a big fan of his stuff. He’s got like a really cool pop/soul sound that’s different than mainstream music. This isn’t a ranking based on favorites and is in the order of the EP.

August And Everything After – Counting Crows Album Review

June 28, 2019 by Cameron Lyle

August and Everything After was the first studio album release from the Counting Crows. The album was released on September 14, 1993 and drew a great amount of success from the launch of the album due to the hit single “Mr. Jones.” Though being a hit, the song never made it to the Billboard Hot 100 Charts. August And Everything After managed to peak at #4 on the Hot 200 and still stands to this day being their top selling album. Counting Crows still make music today with their last album coming out in 2014, but they have hinted at a new album coming very soon.

Oh My Messy Mind – James Bay EP Review

June 25, 2019 by Cameron Lyle

In the await of his third studio album James Bay released Oh My Messy Mind on May 10, 2019. James Bay, as a young artist has already been nominated for three different Grammys but unfortunately has not won one to this date. Bay’s first album Chaos and The Calm saw him battle the ups and downs of love with a rock pop style. Chaos and The Calm put Bay on the map for his signature style of music and his sad but relatable lyrics. His follow up album Electric Light gained a lot of negative reviews with the use of electronic technics to alter his vocals and add a more techno sound to his music. The new sound went heavily against what he focused on in Chaos and The Calm which gained him his fame. Personally, I enjoyed Electric Light as well as Chaos and The Calm and maybe even liked Electric Light a little more, but the hardcore fans of James Bay had a different idea. For this EP I decided not to rank them due to the shortness of the release, but instead I will just do what I normally do by analyzing each song.
